PEDC, City of Pearland Working to Attract Shale-Inland to Pearland
Leading specialty supplier for energy and industrial sectors to build 210,000 square-foot facility in Pearland

PEARLAND, Texas — Leadership from the City of Pearland, Brazoria County, and the Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) are working with Shale-Inland Holdings, LLC (Shale-Inland), who has selected a site in Pearland for its new consolidated regional facility.

Shale-Inland is a leading specialty supplier of pipe, valves, fittings and related products and an expert provider of flexible technical solutions to the energy and industrial sectors.  Its principal products include metal and HDPE pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, actuators, bar, and tubing.  Shale-Inland is headquartered in Houston and currently operates 42 facilities worldwide.

“Shale-Inland is excited about the new pipe, fitting, and flange (PFF) warehouse and office complex, which will allow us to consolidate existing PFF Houston operations and group management from many of our companies; including Southwest Stainless and Alloy, Multalloy, J&J Bar, and J&J Alloy,” said Frank Riddick, Chief Executive Officer of Shale-Inland.  “The support of the Pearland community leadership will help this team position for significant growth as a key part of Shale-Inland’s overall global strategy.”

The 210,000 square-foot tilt-wall building will include office, distribution and warehouse space and an 8-acre pipe yard.  The facility will be located on a 40-acre site on the northwest corner of State Highway 35 and Bailey Road and will be home to approximately 80 employees, including executive management, sales, operations, administrative, accounting and warehouse personnel.

“The City of Pearland is honored that Shale-Inland has chosen a site in Pearland for its new facility,” said Pearland Mayor Tom Reid. “Shale-Inland’s selection of Pearland demonstrates how our community’s outstanding quality of life and business-friendly leadership continues to attract high-caliber companies to the area.”

The site is located in a 121.6 acre reinvestment zone that was created by the City in 2012 to encourage industrial development that would create jobs and diversify and increase the community’s tax base.  The reinvestment zone, located northwest of the intersection of Bailey Road and SH 35, has been an area of focus for the City and PEDC, who have invested in utilities and infrastructure, including the Bailey Road overpass to encourage development in the area.

The PEDC and city officials began working with Shale-Inland in late 2013 on the project. The site Shale-Inland selected is part of a tract currently owned by the Pearland Independent School District (PISD).  As part of a cooperative intergovernmental deal for this excess property, PISD will sell approximately 40 acres on the northern portion of its 97-acre tract.  The City and County will be considering agreements over the next month to finalize Shale-Inland’s selection of Pearland for the facility.

The facility is being designed and built, by American Commercial Contractors, a Houston-based Design Build commercial construction company.
