PEDC Unveils Online Survey for Strategic Plan Initiative
Pearland community invited to participate in process
October 29, 2012
PEARLAND, Texas — The Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC), along with local partners in government, education, healthcare and business have embarked upon a long-term strategic community and economic development planning process in order to create a shared vision for the community’s future growth and an action plan to achieve it. PEDC has retained Market Street Services, Inc., a community and economic development consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia to assist and facilitate the creation of the strategic marketing plan.
The initiative begins today with a series of focus groups and individual interviews with over 80 local business, government, education and civic leaders. Results of those interviews and focus groups will be combined with key demographic and market data, competitive assessment findings, a target business analysis and a best practice community review and analysis to develop an economic development strategy for the community. Businesses and residents throughout Pearland have an opportunity to provide feedback about the issues and opportunities facing the community by participating in an online survey.
The online survey is open and available to anyone living or working in Pearland who has an interest in public and quality of life planning in their community. The survey can be found by visiting www.pearlandedc.com/survey.aspx. The survey includes questions and answers that explore the community’s strengths and weaknesses and identify future opportunities and challenges. It also includes multiple open-ended questions where respondents may offer their ideas and hopes for what Pearland will look like in ten or twenty years. This survey will remain available to the public until Friday, November 16, 2012.
Responses gathered from the survey will contribute to the vision planning process and guide the Steering Committee in discussions prioritizing regional needs. The planning process is expected to take approximately seven months. At the end of the months-long effort, Pearland will have a consensus-based, achievable roadmap to guide the community’s path to short and long-term economic growth. The formal plan will be released in May of 2013.
