Recreation Center and Natatorium
The Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium
opened its doors in August 2010 to provide additional fitness and aquatic opportunities for both the Pearland community and surrounding cities.
The 107,000 sq. ft. Recreation Center and Natatorium is a joint partnership with the Pearland Independent School District, Pearland Economic Development Corporation and the City of Pearland. The $17.3 million facility is located at 4141 Bailey Road in the heart of Pearland.
The Recreation Center
The recreation center consists of a gymnasium (18,325 sq. ft.), weight room (4,134 sq. ft), activity room (4,083 sq. ft.), racquetball courts, locker rooms and an elevated indoor track (160 yards). It also houses a multipurpose room, kitchen and a drop-in play area for children.
Inside the natatorium is a competition pool (50 meters x 25 yards), two 3-meter diving boards, two 1-meter diving boards and a warm-up pool (25 yards x 3 lanes). The competition pool can be set in seven different configurations for recreational/lap swim, long and short course swim meets, water polo, competition diving and synchronized swimming. The warm-up pool is a shallow pool with a zero-depth entry. Primary uses for the warm-up pool include water exercise classes, swimming lessons and therapeutic recreation programs. The natatorium serves both the Pearland and Dawson High School swim and water polo teams.
