Pearland EDC, Alvin Community College partner to strengthen local biotech workforce

The tremendous growth of Pearland-area biotech companies such as Lonza, Millar Inc., and Merit Medical demands a faster workforce pipeline.
The Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) is helping to meet the need for a better-equipped workforce by partnering with Alvin Community College (ACC) and Lonza to create a two-level Biotechnology Certificate Course.
As local companies faced a tremendous urgency to hire entry-level workers, the objective of the course, with options for a Level 1, six-week commitment and a Level 2, 12-week commitment, is to quickly train people for employment in the biotech field.
