Pearland Launches Pearland Innovation Hub for Community Entrepreneurs
PEARLAND, Texas – The Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) is excited to announce the official launch of the Pearland Innovation Hub, an entrepreneurship initiative designed to connect entrepreneurs and small businesses in Pearland with the necessary resources to grow and succeed.
The Pearland Innovation Hub enhances Pearland’s innovation entrepreneurship culture by creating events, programs activities for entrepreneurs and small business owners to inspire ideation, innovation and entrepreneurship. Local entrepreneurs and small businesses in Pearland can connect with local and regional entrepreneurship assistance programs, service providers and funding sources to maximize their growth potential and overall success. Offerings of the Hub will include business plan competitions, proactive coaching, networking events and student programs to encourage entrepreneurship.
“We are very excited about the launch of the Pearland Innovation Hub and its programs that will connect entrepreneurs and small businesses in Pearland with the necessary resources to grow and succeed,” stated Pearland Mayor Kevin Cole. “As noted in our Pearland Prosperity community strategic plan, there is untapped potential for startup activity in Pearland and the Hub will serve to establish Pearland as a community known for innovation and entrepreneurship and where emerging companies want to locate.”
The Pearland Innovation Hub is being operated through a partnership between PEDC and The Cannon. Oversight of the Hub is provided by the Pearland Innovation Hub’s advisory board. The Cannon recently hired Brandy Guidry to serve as Navigator for the Pearland Innovation Hub. With over 17 years of experience in leadership skills and mentorship, Guidry will oversee the daily operations of the Hub.
“The Pearland Innovation Hub is a groundbreaking initiative to support existing and aspiring small business owners,” stated Guidry. “I, along with PEDC and The Cannon, are excited to be able to ‘Navigate’ the Pearland community and help it continue to prosper in all areas of entrepreneurship.”
A launch party for the Pearland Innovation Hub will be held at Bakfish Brewing on May 19th at 5:00pm to celebrate the official launch of the program. Attendees will hear from Guidry, along with leadership team members of PEDC and The Cannon.
The Pearland Innovation Hub is the result of the Pearland Prosperity Community Strategic Plan’s call for the creation of a hub for entrepreneurship and small business assistance in Pearland, and the completion of a Market Assessment and Business Plan for the Hub which identified market opportunities and created a plan to support entrepreneurs and small business owners, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship culture, and connect entrepreneurs to resources within the region. In April 2021, the PEDC Board of Directors, after reviewing the proposed Hub’s business model and consulting with steering committee established to advise the feasibility study, along with the Pearland Prosperity Implementation Committee and Chamber Board of Directors, voted to move forward with the creation of the Entrepreneurship Hub. City Council approved the contract with the Cannon in November 2021.
