Recent Relocations & Expansions

Pearland’s prime location within Texas and low cost of doing business attracts companies looking to start-up, expand or relocate. Pearland is home to multiple corporate headquarters, manufacturers and small businesses across numerous industries. The retail sector grew exponentially in recent years, while the construction, manufacturing and professional sectors—especially in the areas of life science, health care and finance—continue to rapidly expand.

 

Syzygy Plasmonics

Syzygy Plasmonics, a Houston-based startup founded in 2018, is pioneering a technology that produces clean, distributable hydrogen from various feedstocks. Syzygy’s platform technology is based on a field of science called photocatalysis, where the company is using light from LEDs that are driven by renewable electricity to perform chemical reactions. In May 2022, the company announced it had leased a 44,800 square-foot building in Pearland for its new headquarters, R&D, and manufacturing facility

The PEDC and city officials began working with Syzygy in 2021 on its relocation to Pearland. Syzygy will be leasing the former Industrial Polymers building from Welcome Group. The 44,800 square-foot building, located at 3250 S. Sam Houston Parkway, will serve as the company’s headquarters, research and development and manufacturing site for its product. The facility opened in fall 2022 and is home to approximately 60 employees.

Millar, Inc.

Founded in 1969, Millar, Inc. pioneered the development of pressure sensor technology, directing its design and manufacturing expertise toward integrating that technology into catheters for life sciences and clinical applications. Today Millar is a leading developer and manufacturer of pressure sensor-enabled devices that partners with global leaders in technology, manufacturing and healthcare to turn breakthrough technologies into life-saving medical innovations. In December 2021, the company broke ground on its new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Pearland’s Lower Kirby.

The PEDC and city officials began working with Millar in 2017 on its relocation to Pearland. Opened in August of 2023, the 56,000 square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility is home to the company’s R&D and warehouse functions. Located on a five-acre site on Kirby Drive just south of Beltway 8, the facility is home to approximately 120 employees.

Interim Healthcare

Founded in 1966, Interim HealthCare provides home health care including skilled nursing, (RN/LVN) physical & occupational therapy, nurses, therapists, aides and other health care personnel.  In June 2020, the company selected Pearland as the location for its Houston regional headquarters facility, leasing 4,600 square-feet in the Trinity Professional Building on Country Place Parkway.

PEDC began recruitment efforts for this project in early 2020. This office serves as the headquarters for the Houston regional franchise, which has been in operations for five years.

HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement

HCA Houston Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare in the Houston area, treats almost a million patients every year. With an employee base of 15,000, HCA Houston Healthcare’s comprehensive network includes 13 hospitals, 10 outpatient surgery centers, 11 freestanding emergency centers and numerous freestanding diagnostic imaging facilities in the greater Houston area. In 2021, the company opened the HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement in Pearland Town Center. The 48,400 square-foot, state-of-the-art training center houses high-fidelity hospital simulation labs, connected classrooms and de-briefing rooms, where the health system’s nearly 7,000 nurses receive ongoing clinical education and training. The center also serves as a hub for all HCA Houston Healthcare new hire orientations and the division’s Leadership and Organizational Development training.

The HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement marks the second major expansion in Pearland by HCA in the past five years. HCA Healthcare Houston opened its Pearland hospital, a 144,000 square-foot, acute care hospital featuring surgical suites, medical/surgical beds, intensive care beds, an emergency department, and an imaging department, in 2015.

CobbFendley

CobbFendley, a civil engineering and surveying firm opened its Pearland location in May 2012 with 3 full-time employees on the east side of Pearland in a total lease space of 1,608 square-feet.

CobbFendley Pearland, today located at 1920 Country Place Parkway, Suite 400, has expanded three times over the last seven years. The latest expansion, in December 2019, has grown CobbFendley Pearland’s office space from a 20-person capacity (4,667 square-feet) to a total lease space of over 11,000 square-feet with room for a total of 36 full-time employees. With this additional lease space, CobbFendley was able to add the firm logo to the face of the office building.

Wilmar Oleo North America

Wilmar Oleo North America, a subsidiary of Wilmar International based in Singapore, is a leading agribusiness in Asia. In 2008, the company opened a U.S. office in Pearland that houses sales and administrative functions for their primary product, palm oil. In 2015, they moved the Pearland office to the Pearland Town Center where they lease 5,280 square feet.

PEDC worked with Wilmar in 2019 to renew their lease with the Town Center and made a commitment to expand their workforce in Pearland. Wilmar has added additional sales, administrative and logistics personnel and now has 25 employees.

 

Endress+Hauser

Swiss-based Endress+Hauser is a global leader in measurement instrumentation, services and solutions for industrial process engineering, providing process solutions and optimizing processes in terms of economic efficiency, safety and environmental impact.  Its customers come from various industries, including chemical, food & beverage, life sciences, power & energy, primaries & metal, oil & gas and water & wastewater.

In late 2020, Endress+Hauser opened a 112,000 square-foot Gulf Coast Regional Campus in Pearland’s Lower Kirby District.  The facility houses teams to support Endress+Hauser’s products, solutions and services, along with partners SpectraSensors, Analytik Jena, and Vector Controls and Automation Group.  The campus also offers areas for calibration, repair and training, including a state-of-the-art PTU.

Energy Rental Solutions

Energy Rental Solutions, a Caterpillar dealer dedicated to the specialty rental business, opened its new headquarters facility in Pearland in 2020.

The 40,000 square-foot building includes office and warehouse space and is located on a 12-acre site in the Rice Drier Commerce Park on Rice Drier Road and State Highway 35. The facility is home to approximately 55 employees, including executive management, sales, operations, administrative, service technicians and warehouse personnel.

Lonza

One of the world’s leading and most-trusted suppliers to the pharmaceutical, biotech and specialty ingredients markets, Lonza is a custom manufacturer and developer that harnesses science and technology to create products that support safer and healthier living and that enhance the overall quality of life.  Founded in 1897 in the Swiss Alps, Lonza today is a well-respected global company with more than 55 major manufacturing and R&D facilities and approximately 15,500 full-time employees worldwide.

In April 2018, the company opened 300,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in Pearland’s Lower Kirby District.  It is the largest dedicated cell-and-gene-therapy manufacturing facility in the world and is home to 350 employees.

Base Pair Biotechnologies

Recruited to Pearland in 2014, Base Pair Biotechnologies is a developer of research and medical diagnostics made of DNA for research institutions, universities and pharmaceutical companies.

In October 2017, the company expanded with a relocation to a 5,000 square-foot office and laboratory space on Broadway, allowing for an additional eight employees.

Founded in Pearland in 2012, Adient Medical is a medical device manufacturer that develops implantable medical devices that dissolve for the prevention of pulmonary embolism.

In 2017, the company expanded with a relocation to a 1,900 square-foot office and research space in Reflection Bay at Shadow Creek.

MultAlloy, a division of Texas Pipe and Supply

Founded in 1974, MultAlloy (formerly FloWorks) is a leading specialty supplier of pipe, valves, fittings and related products.  Core global markets include the energy industry, oil & gas-upstream, midstream and downstream, and it also serves the chemical, power, marine, mining, pulp and paper, food and beverage and many more industrial market segments.

In January 2017, MultAlloy opened its 225,000 square-foot warehouse and operations facility on S. Main.  The facility consolidated the company’s existing Houston operations and group management from several companies into one regional facility and is home to approximately 80 employees.

 

Tool-Flo Manufacturing

Owned by IMC Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company, Tool-Flo Manufacturing is one of the world’s largest companies for metalworking products and metal removal technology.  The company manufactures precision carbide, metal-working tools and products for the oil/gas, automotive and medical industries.

In December 2018, Tool-Flo Manufacturing completed construction on its company headquarters, training and manufacturing facility in Pearland’s Lower Kirby District. The 80,000-square-foot facility is home to 150 employees, including management, engineering, sales, operations and administrative personnel.

PT Solutions

One of the top 100 suppliers of industrial tools in the United States, PT Solutions is owned by IMC Group, a Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway company.

In late 2018, PT Solutions completed construction on its new headquarters and warehouse facility in the Lower Kirby District.  The 46,000-square-foot facility is adjacent to Tool-Flo Manufacturing’s new operations on the same 15-acre site. It is home to 43 employees and also serves as the company’s new distribution center.

 

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International Corporation

In April 2015, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International Corporation (MCO-I) celebrated the grand opening of Pearland Works, its new office, manufacturing and service facility in Pearland’s Lower Kirby District. It is the first U.S.-based manufacturing and service location for the Japanese-owned company.

The 180,000-square-foot facility, located on Kirby Drive, houses packaging and assembly, vertical and horizontal rotor storage, repair and maintenance services, administrative offices and a training center.   In addition, MCO-I also constructed a 49,500-square-foot warehouse facility, which opened in late 2015.

 

Buc-ee’s

Buc-ee’s operates convenience stores and travel centers throughout the Central and Gulf Coast region of Texas. Its travel centers are large stores that typically cover over 60,000 square-feet, with as many as 120 fueling positions.

In 2017, the company relocated part of its headquarters to Pearland, leasing 4,900 square feet of space in the Pearland Town Center. Since that time the company has continued to expand and currently leases close to 15,000 square feet in the Pearland Town Center. Approximately 150 employees work at the partial headquarters location, providing human resources and legal functions that support its stores across the state.

 

Kelsey-Seybold

A model for medicine since 1949, Kelsey-Seybold is Houston’s largest and most renowned private, multi-specialty physician group. More than 500,000 patients each year tap into the experience and expertise of the group’s 425+ physicians, who provide primary and specialty care at 20 clinic locations throughout the region.

In 2013, Kelsey-Seybold completed construction on its new administrative headquarters in Pealand.  The company’s 170,000 square-foot headquarters support Kelsey-Seybold’s 370 physicians throughout the region. Administrative services at the facility include accounting, billing, finance, human resources, marketing and the health care system’s call center. The facility houses approximately 800 employees.

Merit Medical

Headquartered in Utah, Merit Medical Systems, Inc. manufactures more than 2,000 proprietary, disposable medical devices used in diagnostic and interventional cardiology and radiology procedures. Their products include inflation devices, various types of catheters, guide wires, fluid dispensing systems, angiography accessories and more.

In 2011, Merit Medical chose Pearland as the site for its new research and development and manufacturing facility. Approximately 330 of Merit’s 6,000 employees work out of the company’s 120,000-square-foot, two-story facility.

Dover Energy

Dover Energy is the energy division of diversified global manufacturer Dover Corporation, a Fortune 500 company with 200 locations and 34,000 employees worldwide.   A manufacturer of specialized products and valves, the company provides highly-engineered solutions for the safe and efficient extraction and handling of critical fluids worldwide in the drilling, production and downstream markets.

In May 2014, Dover Energy opened a 150,000 square-foot manufacturing and operations facility in Pearland’s Lower Kirby District. The facility, which consolidated multiple Texas locations into one regional facility is home to over 250 employees.
